8-Week Beach Ready Body

Dad of two, growing business, finite hours...

and a 'Beach Body' in 12-Weeks??

Ok, so let's get honest here, i'm a work-from-home kinda-dad, controlling my growing empire and legion of writers from the comfort of my bedroom/office/nursery/think-tank and where i enjoy endless coffee and tea and the occasional muffin and where the extent of my commute is approximately 12-feet.

Now this may sound great, and in most cases it is, I supplement my diet quite well with whatever i can find in the fridge of cupboard, usually mackerel or tuna or maybe beans in a spud and as such at least my mind is sharp however as any kill-joy will preach from the hilltops:  "for every action there is an equal or opposite reaction" and as such my opposite "reaction" is my fitness levels.

I have good intentions, don't get me wrong, many a guide will show me how to bar-curl with bags of sugar, do pull-ups under the desk or, as a parent, do squats with a disorientated, vomit-prone child on your shoulders but if you have children that seek attention like a gobby "Portuganese" celeb, just how am i supposed to do all this?

So here is the challenge i have been set (if the title wasn't obvious enough for you).  Our fitness writer Sarah Brookes has created the ultimate fitness programme for the 'pushed for time', 'get bored easily' individual and i am the Guinea Pig so gone are the arduous repetitions on the ab-cruncher and the agonisingly boring bar-bell curls, instead we have what our trainer described as:

"a general full body conditioning program using mainly bodyweight/dumbell exercises, followed by short sharp interval style training designed to provide a total body workout that is effective yet over in minimal time that can be done anywhere and doesn't rely on gym membership"

Having said that The Village Health & Fitness Club have been kind enough to lend us their gym for this 8-week challenge.

So what am i sacrificing here exactly?  Lets start with the very things i just had as i thought i enjoyed them namely Caffeine, Alcohol and All 'non-naturally sourced Sugars as well as Processed Foods, Wheat and Dairy for the first 30-days.  The thinking behind this is that these are either highly acidic or substances that are detrimental to the efficient running of your body's engine and as such by eliminating these chemicals, nutritional and biochemical status-quo is re-established.

So that's it.  As of July you can follow the plan, i mean get committed and get in the best shape of your life with a programme that is so unconventional by gym standards people will be wondering what you are up to.

The Plan: COMING ON THE 1ST AUGUST

Your current web browser must be updated to version 7 of Internet Explorer (IE7) to take advantage of all of template's capabilities.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
