Summer's in the Air...
time to mix it up a little!
With spring in the air and the official British summer time upon us; I thought this would be the perfect time to create some fantastic seasonal cocktails. Spring ingredients include the likes of lemons and oranges, strawberries and rhubarb and interesting ingredients such as cherries and apricots. So here are some of my favourite recipes to get you started.
Cherry Cosmopolitan
- 1.0 shots Good quality vodka
- 0.5 shots Cherry liqueur
- 0.5 shots Cointreau
- 3.0 shots Cranberry Juice
Garnish: Flamed orange peel
Method:
Add all the ingredients to a shaker or a sealable container then fill completely with ice and shake till ice cold. Strain into a martini glass, then to add an orange twist, take a slice of orange zest and squeeze over a flame into the drink.
Strawberry Mojito
- 2.0 shots Cuban Rum
- 0.5 shots Fresh lime juice
- 1 tsp White sugar
- 3 Whole strawberries
- 12 Mint leaves
Garnish: Strawberry & Mint sprig
Method:
Add the lime juice sugar and strawberries to a glass and muddle until all the sugar has dissolved. Add to that the rum and mint leaves and fill with crushed ice. Mix together with a spoon and garnish with a strawberry and mint sprig.
Orange Buck
- 2.0 shots Brandy
- 0.5 shots Apricot Liqueur
- 0.5 shots Caramel syrup
- 3.0 shots Orange Juice
Garnish: Orange slice
Method:
Fill a long glass full of ice cubes, and then add all the ingredients. Stir until the drink comes to the rim of the glass add the garnish then enjoy!
These three drinks are great, easy to create, but the best part is that, when you’re expecting company or even if your not, these can be made into jug form! Enjoy the recipes and experimenting with some fantastic seasonal ingredients.
