Any restaurant that resides on Sandbanks - the forth most expensive piece of real estate in the world, has a lot to live up to.The only Restaurant/Bar without a hotel attached in a three-mile radius, everyone who is anyone will gravitate here. From the rich to the not-so-rich, celebrity to the not-so-celeb if you need to network or be seen then it stands to reason that you would come here and the fact it has the most beautiful view you could wish for merely adds to it's WOW-factor. The restaurant is segmented into two parts, when you walk through the main entrance you are welcomed by fashion-conscious staff buffing wine-glasses at long-bar, a bar housing a huge array of Champagnes, Wines and Spirits. To the right you can take your pick from a network or well positioned lounge chairs, sofas and booths leaving the layout airy and inviting whilst at the same time private enough for locals such as Football Manager Harry Redknapp to have his business meeting. This is where the fashionistas mingle and with no strict dress-code you can happily wear your suit or jeans and t-shirt whilst tucking into your Lobster and Chips or Cheeseburger. Walk through this lounge area of Cafe Shore and you are welcomed by the dining room, an open plan affair with private booths on request but unless you are seriously private or in a life-or-death meeting why you would want to with a 180 degree view over the harbour. It's anyone's guess to be honest. Although huge expense has gone into establishing a 'WOW' effect this is by no means consistent throughout, on our visit our service was painfully slow, they could be forgiven on a busy service however we ordered a light snack at noon on a weekday, to say it was quiet is an understatement and as such found it hard to swallow in a venue that has such standards to live up to. All-in-all we would say that for a post-work drink or meeting Cafe Shore ticks all the boxes however you have to drive past the Branksome Beach to get there and to be frank, if my plan was an evening meal i'd be booking there. |
